Thumbs up Thumbs Up! for 02 Broadband!

Been with 02 for two months now at home and their Internet connection is absolutely solid!

Strange to say, I'm getting a constant 890KB/sec DL speed and 500KB/sec UL speed on their cheapest package which seems strange i should be getting slower, oh well.

Just used their phone support for the first time as they blocked port 25 for smtp and they answered within 3 minutes queue time. Been prime time as well. They gave me a relay server to use which is good.

So all in all very good service and thumbs up to 02 BB

No qualms with 02 here either..
All be it, everything is piped over an OpenVPN tunnel to Real Hosts network and I don't use their DNS..

And I get a discount for having my mobile with them.. on 16meg tarriff.. couldn't be bothered with the static IP.. Roughly 9meg down 1meg up.

O2 own Be IIRC so they'd be stupid not to use their network

I ordered Be at 11am yesterday, a few seconds after BT activated my line - was live when I got up at 7am this morning! (new line order), and that's nothing special just a normal order - I'm impressed.

Seems odd seeing there is a three week delay in provisioning tie pairs at exchanges at present, unless of course they were previously on the line and it was merely a case of removing the block.

I have to say that having used Be* for a few months now I'm very happy with them. They've had a few minor issues (aka half the Internet going offline on a few Saturday evenings) - but really I guess that's my fault for not been out...

I was a little nervous when I realised that Be* were bought by O2 (I think I realised just before ordering, but still seemed ok so gave them a try) - and to be honest the grass is still feeling much greener that the Tiscali shambles I moved from (F2S).

Hm... O2 block port 25, do Be* aswell?

Will they not remove this block? I was looking forward to having the local exchange unbundled but now not so much..

I believe that both will unblock if you have a static IP. I think O2 charge a small fortune for that, but I think Be* include static IP with all but their cheapest plan. Which works out best for you depends whether you're an O2 mobile customer.

O2 Broadband SMTP relay server is relay.o2broadband.co.uk - to get around the port 25 block.
