    It's sad when there's any down time for a web site - no matter how much you have paid. They probably have tried very hard to avoid hurting people when their sites are at their busiest by choosing that particular time, but in doing so have inconvenienced you (and probably a few others too). Unfortunately it's not always possible to please everyone. We always try to do our Maintenance early in the morning (5am-7am) if at all possible, but there with a service that has to cater to the needs of so many, there will always be people adversely affected.

    As you say, your website is very important to you and your business, so perhaps this is the time to start looking into a more robust solution?

    think he means "ISP" is really a term for access services rather than hosting

    ISP = Internet Service Provider

    We (eHosting) only provide shared, vps, dedicated, etc so we are not an ISP. Slightly off topic but I've always understood it to be correct and the norm that a hosting provider is not an ISP.

    Depends on the site Neil some businesses don't make any sales until after 11pm.

    We usually start to go quiet at 1am and it totally drops off after 2am then picks up from 6am onwards.

    Customers do not like lengthy outages no matter the time of day or night.

    Despite a primarily UK SME clientbase, the majority of our *online* sales are between 3pm and 1am

    Maybe the horrible problems that Virgin have been having recently could be causing the connection issues that the OP was complaining about in his correspondence with Daily.co.uk?

    Yes, that's what my thoughts were as whenever we have such problems the client is on Virgin Media

    I've been affected by this move too. It was meant to be finished by 7am but it's 8.30am and the nameservers aren't operating. There have also been no updates to dailystatus.co.uk since 11.40pm yesterday, despite a promise of:

    "This Status Page is hosted externally so will continue to function during the migration. It will be constantly updated so we urge customers to refer here for progress reports"

    Frankly I'm disappointed and expected more from Daily. Couldn't they have set up some externally hosted nameservers!? It seems obvious and would have stopped all those who don't host with them from being affected.

    Anyone know the IP address for the new daily.co.uk site, so I can modify my hosts file and get in and change nameservers for domains?

  14. #44
    Well, nearly 11am and daily are still down! Here we go ..... didn't we just know this would happen?

    I also notice that daily provided themselves a page showing a message explaining why their site was unavaliable .... they didn't afford their customers the same benefits thats for sure.

    After a lot of complaining to their customer services I was offered a free upgrade to their business hosting package or free clickthrough monitoring ... I politely declined both explaining that i wouldn't have any use whatsoever for either upgrade and suggested that they might like to give me an adwords voucher (a much cheaper option than the upgrades they offered) as the extra traffic that would hopefully generate might make up for some of my losses due to the downtime .... they refused!!!! Daily are barking quite frankly .... I'd suggest if your a customer and your miffed then let them know about it .... if they ever get back online.

    Daily have finally issued an update - considering everything was meant to be back up by 7am its a bit late really! The bad spelling is theirs by the way .....
