NTL "broadband"

Do anyone use ntl as their isp? and if so have they had any problems with them..

because i have!

Yes, of course! Im currently on NTL`s 750 broadband package. Ive had it since last summer!
In that time they have taken money out of my bank account 3 times on the wrong date, It has also been down twice! the first time it was down for 6 days! I phoned them they told it was my cable modem! But i have never had a problem with it. It was down from their end.
their customer service teams are not trained well enough, once i was waiting on the phone for over an hour to speak to a adviser!
My friend over the road has also had the same problems!

I live in bolton, And as far as i know the server are located in manchester.

Maybe its just where i live.. Im not sure! I have considered changed my ISP to the new service from bulldog 4mb. But i do believe your have bandwidth limits..

I've had NTL since they were trialling their 64K cable modem service. I've had the same modem and no problems (except when it took them best part of 2 weeks to re-connect us when we moved house).

I think you'll find that it's not just NTL who don't invest in sufficient training for call center staff, although I think they have improved in the last year.

If both of you are getting the same issue, then it may be a local cable issue. Ask for an engineer visit. I know of one guy who had to have a new cable laid back to the local cabinet to resolve his problems.

you cant be on 750, everyone is on 1meg 2meg or 3meg now

I am a 3mb broadband user with ntl, The only time i had a problem was when the upgrade was taking place.

Thier support is getting better. but thier service for me is always on never no problems with connection.

Broadband upgrades are

512k = 1mb

750k = 2mb

1.5mb = 3mb

When i first got on ntl's broadband they said it will be straight on, I rang up the free number and was waiting well over an hour and then they made me ring a £1 a min number and i was on there 4 mins and someone finay answered so i was annoyed and lost my temper abit lol.

But apart from that ntl is going smooth.

djbungle you should ring ntl up and ask them about upgrading your broadband to the 2mb which the 750k one has gone up to. At the moment i think the upgrades are still free etc.

When did they upgrade ? As far as I know I'm still on 750, my download's have not got any better. I didn't rush to get a faster connection due to the bandwidth caps and my downloads are fast enough anyway.

problems is to ntl what fish is to chips. folks wanting reliable access that doesnt drop from time to time, go thro a transparent proxy thats down or slow a lot and isnt as slow as hell buy adsl from someone decent. i dont know about billing troubles as my interest is technical but your service issues are definitely normal for nthell as is the customer (lack of) service

I think it's potluck with ntl.... although most people i know who are on it rarely have problems. I've not had an outage at home for... well i can't actually remember the last one.

Out last outage was around 6 months ago and we where having them almost once a week, it seems to have got a lot better over time.

Ive just had a problem with ntl,

My phones been off for a week now and i rang up last week telling them about it and they said they whould come out the thursday just gone, No one shown, so rang tehm today (friday) and they said they whould come today, But i had a phone call saying they are now comming next thursday, My next door neighbour had the same problem too, thier phone was down for a week, But yet they came to hers today to fix, But i dont see why they didnt fix mine at the same time, So i sent them an email saying if they dont come out mon/tues to fix it i will be making a complaint because they are charging me the full bill too which im not paying because i havent been able to use the phone, Then they told us i didnt pay my last bill when i have,

Ntl is going down the hill for all thier lies, They even did the same trick on my installation sposed to have come on the date of the letter and they never did, After 2 weeks of calling them everytime they said they are sending someone out and they never came, So in the end we threatend them that i will go else where for my phone and broadband and guess what they came the day after that call,

If anyone is getting broadband and phoneline from ntl, I'd wait awhile because they are doing the same thing they did to me to others with late installs etc,

Now that feels good that i had a good moan

I was with NTL for about 3 years on the 600k service which they upgraded up to 750k, I believe. I never had a problem and speeds were always good. The problems seem to be, when you read various message boards, is when you actually need support from them. I cant really comment on their support because, to be honest, I never needed it.
