DON'T DO IT

But on the other hand, speak to BT WholeSale and find out the costs. Upfront costs are pretty high, gone are the days of being able to get nice fat cheques with very little outlay. The onus is very much more on the ISP now.

Make sure to have a decent network structure in place before hand too and should you get an issue with your Central that is slightly technical.. don't expect it to be fixed quickly

The market is so competitive these days, IMHO it's not really worth bothering offering ADSL connections, unless you have something pretty different to offer.

I agree - we've got plans for our ADSL offerings because frankly there's no point trying to compete with the big players on pricing alone - on some of their pricing by the time you send people an invoice and pay for the cost in receiving the payment you've made a loss.

Hello, Companies Act 2006. Because looking information up at Companies House is very very difficult indeed (especially as they think the Internet closes at night), and this post could possibly be construed as a business communication, I am legally required to furnish you with the following information: Low Cost Host Ltd - Reg# 5172812, VAT# GB 842 9750 02 Correspondence address PO Box 11, Brighouse, W Yorks, HD6 1LQ Registered address c/o Allan P Naylor Accountant, 8 King Cross St, Halifax, W Yorks, HX1 2SH Inside leg measurement 31in (or 78.74cm) Favourite colour Blue Attitude towards ridiculous legislation Incredulous

The trick is (well, one of many tricks, I would imagine) is to determine whether or not ADSL services are going to be a good fit with services that you already offer. For example, customers of a gaming server company might buy the service because it terminates right next to their servers.

Unless you have a niche market, a loyal customer base, whatever, then the only way to make money with ADSL is with volume.

If you think that you have the specialist market or can get a large number of customers reasonably quickly (and by that I'm only talking about 100+) then go down the L2TP route. If not then become a reseller.

Or actually sell at below wholesale prices *cough* e7even *cough*

It's the first pyramid scheme ISP I've ever heard of (i.e. the new signups pay the bills for the BT Centrals etc.), and one day it will come tumbling down!
