Does anyone know where I can find a map of backbone providers covering Africa, specifically Tanzania?
I'm visiting Tanzania next month with the charity Volunteer Africa and will probably end up being tasked with working out how to connect their various people and places together, along with be asked questions about whether we can provide telephony back to the UK over VoIP.
I don't know if this chap can help, but if you drop m j e _at_ posix dot co dot za (no spaces, etc) he may be able to offer some advice. I know he has a link back to the UK.
I don't know him personally, but we peer with him and from his emails he seems a nice chap

BT re-sell a mobile satellite solution which consists of two parts, each the size of a laptop and is designed for “simple” operation. If memory serves if runs up to 2Mb but that would cost big bucks so 128 or 256 Kb more likely.
