Should I?...Is it really worth it?

Hi I am have some dedicated servers with some people on this forum and I am come to thinking maybe I should be a reseller off them and start my own company? I have some questions though putting all the money into it and all of the comp., is it really worth it?

Depends how carried away you're intending on getting. You need to get quotes on colocation and look at the cost of the equipment you'd have to buy (don't forget to account for maintenance costs) and see if the cost of colo+purchase+maintenance is less than the cost of dedicated servers..

Obviously with colo and having all your boxes in one place will make you look more 'contigious' on the whole and a bit more professional, but you'll have to consider if that really matters for whatever your marketed product is.

On a serious note, reselling isn’t really worth it, much better to buy your own hardware

I'm confused by the orginal post. Is he saying that he wants to downgrade from a dedicated to a reseller account or is he saying that he wants to start reselling servers?

Not to state the obvious, but you ARE asking a large group of ISPs... All selling the SAME thing, just offering slightly different services, but generally it is the same service colocation wise..

In regards to Transit, well it is PURELY up to you, everyone will try and sell you transit, but you really do need to investigate this yourself.

In regards to hardware, it is very dependant on what kind of service you want to supply. Flexiserve will do you cheapish machines if you want pre-built, otherwise, Shuttle's can be built pretty cheaply, which come with everything inside, bar the CPU and RAM. (Basically case, psu, motherboard). The cooling isn't too bad, and they're generally quite reliable.
