All mine break because i just stick the player on "as loud as it will go" and the headphones dont like it
If my make good playlists and stick it in order mode, then you dont have the problem of crummy music coming up.

I've not had a problem with my set of Fontopia's since I got them over a year ago ... well except the earpieces keep falling off and I have to replace them because I can't find them! They're cheap enough to replace though. I'm very pleased with them.
I almost got a Shuffle, but decided to go the Sony (NW-E507) route instead and I'm very very impressed and pleased I made the Sony choice. The 50hrs battery life is fantastic, as is the sound quality and I love the interface and 1-handed operation of the unit! I have to admit it's quieter than Ipod's tend to be, but it's loud enough and I mean any louder and in reality it's going to damage your hearing.

I'd suggest ordering spare earpieces now as you'll lose them soon ... great earphones, just a shame about the earpieces falling off!

That's not what I meant. You get 3 sets of interchangeable earpieces which fall of very easily. You'll probably lose your size within a month or two ... replacements are very cheap though.

I won a 1GB Shuffle through an MTV competition. I loaded it with tunes and took it on holiday, where there was a little Sony hi-fi unit with a couple of spare phono inputs. Hooking the Shuffle up to that gave me my favourite music all week.
Even the missus, who isn't fond of gadgets, thought it was a fantastic little device, and excellent value for money at £0

The earpieces are cheap, but postage wasn't IIRC, so buy a few (you'll lose them again, I did :P).

The only problem I've had with mine is the lack of a hold button....
When I have the Shuffle in my pocket, some times a set of keys will knock a button and pause the music!

Or, perhaps, turn it on when you're in a lift in telehouse? :P
