Linksys WRT54GS Wireless Issues

Hi,

I've got a really annoying issue with my linksys.

It keeps dropping my wireless connection, then after a few seconds sometimes it will reconnect other times I have to go reboot it a few times then it connects and i'll happliy surf along for an hour or so and it will drop again.

If I hardwire into the router it doesn't drop loose internet connection.

When watching the WLAN light it stays solid even when I loose the signal. Even if I have a signal sometimes windows just keeps trying to connect and doesnt seem to pass traffic.

I've upgraded the firmware to 1.50.9 the latest I can find any ideas?

It happens on all 3 laptops in the house with 2 running Vista and one on XP.

I had this problem with a netgear one. Tried everything but couldn't solve the problem.

Fortunately I got a new one from VM and will be using that.

Well i've managed to sort one of my issues out with speed, which was meaning over wireless we were getting 500kbs now i've got so were using 18mb of our 20mb broadband.

Just need to work out why it keeps dropping out!

Have you tried updating the firmware?

Personally i had it happen with a Netgear router when running bittorrent. Probably something to do with the number of packets running through the system.

No joy on the Linksys site?

Did you ask Linksys support? I've found them quite helpful in the past (some long time ago though, in the early Cisco days IIRC).

Firmware Upgraded to latest available from LinkSys.

I changed the channel earlier this evening to 8, I tried 11, 10 and 9 and it still happened - I've had no drop out's on 8 apart from at first maybe it's found the best channel to operate on. But the dropping seem's to happen more during the day rather than night and that's puzzling me!

Linksys support weren't of much help, and there seem's to be people asking this question on there forums but no real answers.

Well since changing to channel 8 i've had no more drop-outs

I do get the odd time when traffic just freezes but it's not lost connection to the router.
