Anyone got the Extreme Summit 24e3 images one with SSH

    Hello
I just picked up a Summit 24e3 and found it that the extremeware inside has no SSH (OMG) and Web interface. I am wondering if anybody got a firmware laying around that I may able to download off.

    Thanks in advanced.

*IIRC* the 24e3 can't support SSH as it's a non i-series chipset box. You need an ISeries or newer box to support 'advanced' things like lacp/ssh/etc (lacp and a few other features I'm sure about, and I'm pretty sure it's the same story with ssh - in fact, I can't actually recall if the original extremeware ever did ssh, off the top of my head - I know XOS does, though)

You don't want a web interface anyway. Extreme's CLI is quirky but not too difficult to wrap your head around.

24e3 is an iSeries from memory and it can most definitely run SSH. Don't actually know what happened to ours, I guess they are sat in a corner gathering dust somewhere, were actually quite nice bits of kit, can still embarrass a lot of kit @ Layer 3 these days, if you've not got a dodgy one.

24e3 isn't Inferno chipset, it was the first of the "bought in" models (from Broadcom iirc) that led to the s200,s300 and s400 models. You can get an ssh image for it, 6.2e1b20 was the last release for them I believe. Layer3 wise it suffers the same problems that all of the Extremes of that era shared in that it was flow-based routing (and unlike the i-series kit can't do anything like the subnet-routing cludge), however it had a much smaller ipfdb than even the old summit48 that preceded it, so while it could sit quite happily in a "safe" corporate network, expose it to lots of flows and it would start chewing itself up.

Fair dues, we didn't run them for that long before we got rid of them and went with BDs instead (which are now also long gone).

Last one I ran in production is now sitting downstairs switching my home network, only reason to replace it there is the lack of v6 support

Think we've still got bits of one floating around in our office (The PSUs really are bits, as they both blew themselves up).

BD is a good piece of kit but the none i series do have problem when it is under heavy ddos.
Anyway back to the topic, anyone one of you can pull a firmware out of the 24e3 by any chances?

If panny was knocking out 24e3s cheap they were probably the ones he inherited from woaf that were probably bought off ebay in the first place. I think we kept hold of one of the two good ones, never crashed yet
