Seems like many of these "new" technology companies, (satellite especially) seem to promise the world, get a load of pre-registrations and then never deliver a service or are delayed extensively
I wonder when a "mainstream" company will pioneer a true "consumer" wireless service?

A lot of the new technologies also don't work that well. Satellite is particularly prone to high latency.
Laser seems to have a good reputation, 802.11 is proven of course, and then the licensed microwave bands all work at surprising levels.
