Magnetic interference from sanding the floors? Did someone tell you that while sharply sucking air through their teeth and adding up zeros for a quote?

Dan, that sounds like the biggest pile of bilge I've heard since trying to get straight answers out of FH....

Have you tried it on one of the newer 3.x releases, they've done a load of bugfixes on it apparently.

Ed, yes small scale. It seems better but I think I am heading to the next MUM to raise my concerns as there are still a number of elements I am not happy with, primarily looping and issue with rule propagation - indeed you have to change more or less to a hub-spoke layout for it to work successfully which is broken every time you have a p2p hop off which seem sporadic and relatively un-controllable. It plays havoc with queues amongst other things as the arp timeout is too long for them to take effect when a connection swings meaning those with a (for e.g. 2Mb/s LL) suddenly get a wirespeed one for anything up to two minutes upon a p2p hop.

There is no way its going live in Leeds....

Tried another channel right at the top or the bottom of the shop to make sure its not interference from a nearby unit.

Bear in mind only channels 1/6/11 don't actually overlap the others..

but it doesn't work well due to the bandwidth throughput on our powerline network kit being too low over the distance
The Solwise 200Mbps Powerline stuff performs well in my experience, out performs most branded kit.

If changing wireless channels @ 2.4 doesn't work, you could try 802.11a (although that may mean buying some more kit). 5.8GHz kit tends to perform better indoors too.

We've done quite a bit of wireless work in the past with the Airmagnet software\analyser. We've had instances where wireless doesn't appear to work well, despite a lack of nearby networks - the spectrum analyser identifies all kinds of interference and even tries to identify the source (e.g Motor, microwave etc).

for some reason it all sucks in our house... so i have ordered bendy sticks and a big roll of Cat6 + faceplates and I will be pulling up floorboards. Patching cab in the hallway cupboard, and the wife has no say in the matter! (Just bought her a macbook to keep her quiet)

Yeah, seen it... Will be testing in due course - from the dev docs they sent across a couple or so weeks ago, it still looks a rather "troubled" implementation to be honest, but our town centre network is so quiet at night and we have access OOB to a couple of the nodes I might book a change slot and give it a test at a couple or three sites, once its been tested across the estate here..

    the wifi completely failed

so we installed structured cabling over the weekend!

first of the photos below... I will upload more once patching frames and panels arrive later today.

This is me (under the floor) and Mr Alex Ross from the Datahop cabling team doing the under-floor runs in my home office room.

We installed 2 ports per room (4 for the office) back to the cupboard under the stairs. Under the floors was very dusty!
