    Buying a Wii

I am looking to Buy a Wii for xmas before there are any potential shortages.

Becuase of the household I will need at least 4 controllers. But looking at the pricing the controllers with a nunchuck are nearly £50 quid each (I am a tight northern bstard).

Anyone any recommendations on the best place to buy or where I might get some bundled controllers?

get wiiplay - the games are enjoyable enough and it comes with another controller, places like HMV were doing wii+2games+30 of accessories for 229 recently, so you an get another in the bundle

3rd party nunchuks are cr@p so only get the "real" ones (that menas not the plastic chinese ebay knockoffs as well)

you *probably* only need 2 sets as very few games will use 4, and they'll be a zllion of them on ebay on boxing day from the families too bored with it after 15 minutes ...

Find peeps who already have too many wii controllers and borrow them for a while. I'm sure 4 would come in handy over xmas/boxing day but longer-term you'll probably only top 2 at a time as the newness wears off.

Then come jan/feb just pickup some unwanted ones up on ebay.

(on a side note, if anyone has a semi-broken/damaged wii controllers that they're willing to flog for next to nowt, gimme a shout (only want the accelerometers/controller parts for a robotics project))

Managed to get myself a nice bundle in the end.

Wii Console with Controller + Wii Sports, Extra Wii Handset + Nunchuck, Wii Play, Wii Music, 4 Station Charger, Plus Wii Fit.

£289.99 from HMV after some haggling.

Nice. Shame I've only just seen this thread - I was going to suggest maybe checking TheNextBid - Lowest Unique Bid Auction - Express Auction as they seem to have Wii's on quite often and seems worth a punt spending a few £ on some bids to get yourself a bargin!

I've fallen into this trap before I have bought it now at a price I was happy with at the time - no more checking around or it will drive me crazy

    Andy,

What's the 4 station charger like? Do you have the model details as I want to get one, but can only really find two on Amazon - one to be released in a few days and one with 3-5 week delivery.

    Cheers,
    Sean

Sean it is the one below. Doubles as a Wii stand and looks to be powered by the Wii, not taken it out of the box yet.

Just a heads up in case you were not supplied with rechargeable AAA batteries too - you will need to get these to use with this stand - don't want any nasty surprises on Christmas day!

Thats a good price you got that for Andy...

My Wii (2 wiimotes, wiisports and 2 shite games) came to shortly under that about 6 months ago from HMV - would have prefered the extra controllers than the games tbh.

Though the only games I actually play on it is wiisports, wiiplay and guitar hero.

I noticed that when I got to the office to check it all out. Felt a little conned so went back a couple of days later and spoke to the manager who had done the deal for me.

I also noticed that Wii Music had gone down by £10. Si I said I would return it and buy it again.

He gave me 16 rechargeable AAAs for free instead. I could have probably bought them cheaper elsewhere but wasn't worth any more time in hunting so took those instead.

Just got my son a Wii for Christmas! He is going to explode when he opens it!

I am just as excited though!!!

Paid £199 for it with 1 controller and WiiSports. Got it a few months ago though, could have got a much better deal if I had waited I reckon!
