Custom Built Servers....

Hi,
I Dont know if any of you guys build your own custom servers and sell them? However, if you do, in a month or so i will colocating **a server** whether i buid it myself or buy it from someone, however i am slightly sketchy about building it myself and just wondered if you could put any offers down here,....

it would be to run game servers so i would be look at about P4 3.0 or more or AMD 3500+ or better, 1gb ram and about 80gig hdd.

I was thinking (and hoping) no more than about £700, im not too bothered on haveing ultra specs, just enough to run me a few 32 man game servers on cod. But obviously i can have a bit of leeway on that budget.

Why not go for something like a Dell PowerEdge SC1425, 750 or 1850.

Each of the first two will be within your price range and the 1850 should be fairly close.

750's are obsoleted, 850's are out now
1850's can be in that range depending on the offers
1425's dont even make good looking toasters

If you can increase the budget to £800 you'd have a much greater choice of quality, reliable, decent performance hardware

Dell price for a 3.0ghz P4 with 1gb RAM and an 80gb disk is £840 + VAT + Delivery, so over £1000 all inclusive. A tad more than the £700 budget mentioned.

I certainly wouldn't consider 750s obsolete just because a new range supporting dual core processors has come out. They are based on technology which will be around for a long time yet and will still adequately satisfy many customers' requirements at a more affordable price than the PE850 will do for the forseeable future.
