Streaming and IRC hosting

Hi all,

I currently have a server at OVH (ovh.com) in France that I use to run streaming audio, a couple of websites and an IRC server.

I'm looking to get a dedicated machine in the uk, to run another streaming audo server (shoutcast), another IRCD and backup DNS/mx.

Right now we are pushing about 2mbits constantly out of the machine at OVH spiking up to 8/9mbits at times. So I am looking for something with at least 5mbits unmetered connectivity.

The IRCD will be linked to absurd-irc which is a public IRC network with around 3000 users online.

Any offers would be much appreciated.

Looking at something like a 2.4ghz celeron 512mb ram and a 80gb hd. Spec isn't so important as b/w streaming audio at 128k to a bunch of listeners is painfull.

Your prices are a little out of my range unfortunatly, i'm probably asking too much for what I have to spend (£100 p/m tops). But we'll see.

I can do the P3 (as it stands now) for bang on £100/mo (ex.VAT) but I'm afraid I can't do much else.

You'll also find most people reluctant to accept iRCd traffic, if you remove that requirement I am sure you will be inundated with offers.

fusion is an unknown quantity at this point
Yeah IRC for UK based hosts isnt a popular choice - just attracts trouble I am afraid......

Might be worth just looking for a host that support IRC such as www.vault5.com (springs to mind) and having a dedicated box for media streaming etc....

Have to increase the budget then.
If what you do is popular, then there's always way of generating revenue to help pay for it - google ads is one.

I was thinking ad's in general

Edit:
However, Google ads in IRC. I don't see it being that hard. Have a bot (bad word, let's say... drone) that will sit in the channel with a channel text catch-all. It will then have a socket connection to google ad servers (just like it was a site being visited by a client) and then it would feed words it grabs, and will get the text back, strip the text clear of html, and then say it back into the thread.

Obviously on a limit,
Or it would google every single word, and it wouldn't be much of a channel. I may be skipping alot of details (assuming info back is infact text and can be stripped) but seems a simple task for someone who can 'script' in mIRC for example.
