Need a pop3 account's emails collecting, spam filtering out of them, efficiently (some sort of sla on incorrectly filtered or spam that gets through if possible?) then sent to another pop3 account I can collect from.
Is this possible?

Yes, it's possible.. SLA wise, depends on the provider.
You can use DSPAM as your filtering method (direct your MX records at your DSPAM server), and then DSPAM can pass the ham back onto your original mail server/relays - if you're after a homebrew solution.
Edit: oops, I mis-read the post.. not sure if any proivder will actually collect your email from your existing POP3 accounts, and then filter it and pass it back to you "clean"...

Its a freeserve pop3 account for reference, I've got a lot of things signed up to it so its not as simple as just changing email address I'm afraid
Cheers,
Jon
I don't know of anyone doing this,
it poses an interesting way of handling the emails in the first place.
Doesn't freeserve have any SPAM protection?
Havn't used them in years... Did they run dialup via 0800 3-4 years ago?

I used to be on 0845 ages ago with them for anytime before broadband was in my area hence all the things signed up using that email. It must be possible for someone to collect emails and filter them then send them back to me. Freeserve's spam protection is rubbish and you end up not getting the emails you want and getting the spam!
SLA is not required I just thought it might be a quirky feature as I am fed up with the amount of spam email's im getting. Mcafee antispam is pants and outlook express filtering only works to a certain extent![]()
"(some sort of sla on incorrectly filtered or spam that gets through if possible?)"
I dont' think you'll get that tbh.. almost all mail washing services that i have ever come across actually disclaim the above rather than provide a service level agreement on it... in any case they'd probably be nuts to do so.

Yeah I thought not, would be good if they could thoughAnyone got any sort of solution?
Pipe everything through a Google Mail account?
How do you get gmail to access other pop3 accounts? Cant seem to be able to do it >_<
Jonsen drop me an msn, we can pull from remote pop3 accounts with Merak if i remember rightly, our spam filtering is very good
I reckon the only major ISP with good spam filtering is virgin.net ive had my account their since 2002, 0 spam at all.
Nothing's 100% perfect though![]()

Jonsen: I would suggest that you install fetchmail on a linux server, and have that collect email from your Freeserve POP3 account, then push the emails though a mixture of spamassasin and mailscanner. One of the best ways of dealing with a lot of spam robots out there is to use antirelayd, but I dont believe you will be able to benefit from that in this suggested setup, though you will get some form of rule based filtering.
We use a method similar to this on our Outlook Anywhere (www.outlookanywhere.net) Exchange platform so that customers with AOL, GMail, etc accounts can get their email delivered to Exchange.
Hope that helps.
