Spam/Virus filtered SMTP feed
Hi,
I'm helping a friend set up a small office. I'm looking to get a spam/virus filtered SMTP feed into their Exchange server. Just inbound would do but outbound would be nice also. This is just a small office with under 10 users. Any suggestions?
Cheers,
Dan

Hi,
Midnight Software would be able to offer this service for 10 users at £90/year +vat.
Comes complete with control panel for scanning admin, with the capability of assigning each email user with their own login.

Hi,
Feel free to take a look at our EBAGS system.

If you have further queries please feel free to get in touch. I can forward a full technical specification of how the system works if required.

- antigen
- sophos pure message
- symantec for exchange
- mcafee (although no spam for exchange)
- mimesweeper from clearswift
there are many others - including nod32 etc but it depends on budget etc. These software sits on the exchange store (except mimesweeper) - you may want to consider a linux gateway box running mailscanner etc or a dedicated appliance
thanks
Brian

There are also providers like message labs and black spider who are very good.

Dan,
No extra cost on your current plan for that
We filter around 3,000 spam emails a day with a very low false positive rate!

We are currently handling 1m connections a day with around just 90k being genuine mail
I've also seen other set-ups handling 10m+ connections with less than 0.01% being genuine mail. Reveals the high level of spam doing the rounds.

Sounds about right - we see well under 1% being "real" email - as a communications medium its becoming much less useful because people are stupid enough to buy from spammers, so spam becomes "effective" hence the amount of it

Your right Rob and I actually mistyped that and shoudl be around 9k genuine (just under 1%).
I read an interesting article that some of the spam is deliberately kept high in order to percipitate a "cascade" effect when the spammers do launch new type of spam email. Thereby overloading systems which are already on the brink.

Filtering entire domain - you change the MX records to point at us and we forward it to your SMTP server.
Each 10 Mailbox "block" £75/pa + VAT (You must buy enough to cover all the addresses you use at the domain).
Control panel, so on and so forth, one month free trial available.
