ukservers review

Here is my review of www.ukservers.com

Sorry i had to post this We getting fobbed off.
Usually id try and resolve this by the companies ticket system

i'll say great pre sales. ( via MSN )

Lets move on.

Timeline

Mon 10th Dec - Billing Account Set-up - bill payed for
Mon 17th Dec - Due For Server Set-Up
Wed 19th Dec - Due For Server Set-Up
Sun 23rd Dec - Server Set-up
Now we run into Operating System Problems As soon As We Have Access
  • Set up of the server took longer than expected 13 days in total
(Of Which not too bothered about as its holiday season and was told for the wait an upgrade to a 500gb HDD)
  • Server is online ok great , but something isn't quite right, Internet explorer would not run
got a blue screen every now and again and could not install iis nor any other add removed windows components would install
  • Support ticket submitted with the problems*
No response had to ask over msn on why
  • Took another 4 days to sort out the reinstall of the operating system
and when asked when would this be done 'soon was the response' i reply to when exactly i got blanked again
  • In the support ticket in *. it ask's for the I386 folder
We never got an answer for this ticket
  • Reinstall of operating system is done
But iis is still not installable
  • Was asked how long and now what happens, and no reply

We could add more to this but this is in major stuff its stopping us from doing business, everything is logged between our company's

and until i said we was going to post a review i get he would do it

I get the service is unmanaged but shouldn't the service be Running Fine before user / administration.

anyway the support is awful with hours (if not longer, if at all) in between for a reply, and having to explain again what was needed.

hope you all the best for the new year

You pay for what you get for. £100 pounds per month for a windows server isn't a great deal.

I have not had any service with UKServers and therefore am not in a position to comment on that. Although I have in the past recvied a quote from them and they seem like a professional outfit.

For the i386 problem you just need a Windows CD. UKServers used to provide it at www.ukservers.com/downloads but I'm sure they'll pop one of the machine if you need it/can't get it yourself.

One of our clients has a cheap server with them and David has always been helpful.

Sounds like a lack of support over Christmas, unless they are exceptionally busy of course!

I'm not sure how many staff ukservers have, if there are only a couple i would guess thats where the problem lies with getting things sorted out.

From working on this with Louise, and having to deal with David and UkServers first hand.

When you are in a middle of a conversation with the supplier on msn, you don't expect them just to stop talking at the last question you ask. With not replying to support tickets doesn't help the problem either.

When you run a business, of course there's going to be the odd hick up at the beginning fair enough. But to keep the custom you'd try everything you can to get the problems fixed as soon as possible. Not be asked to install W2K3 SP1 and then get told oops i've install the wrong version and then not replying for a day. If your not working through a holiday season, then all whats needed to be said is Sorry we're closed at this moment. No excuse was given for why it took so long to sort and reply, even when constantly asked.

I understand some of you haven't used David's server and can't comment first hand. But this is our expierience as well as to show other customers of servers but for supplies to show how not to treat customers when there's that many suppliers around these days.

UKDSL is an unknown quantity at this point
Louise, Edward:

We offer a ten minute guranteed response time to critical priority support tickets submitted through our helpdesk system and 24/7 telephone support.

Your critical ticket: Ticket ID: OXJ-431311
Submitted: 29 Dec 2007 23:58 was replied to: 30 Dec 2007 12:05 AM

MSN isnt a recognised support procedure though I notice our MSN logs show thirty minutes spent @ 1AM on 25th December discussing your IIS installation! The O.S re-install you requested at this time was logged as being completed on the morning of the 27th December...

Well you did pre-sales with him on msn, so its quite strange to do that if you then refuse to use it when something goes wrong :P
