Hi,

[Friendly word of advice]

You should have a postal address on the website in accordance with the "The Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000".

Why call yourself UK when you host in the USA?

Never understood this.

Richard, Thanks for the advice, I'll be sure to look into this.

Jamie, We are a UK-based company (UK residence), but we have servers located in the USA.

Aye, I gathered that from your Site, it's just a pet hate..

using UK in your name gives the impression to end users that you are a UK based UK Operated UK Hosted company.

Much like happened with UkHost4u in the beginning.

There are only two real reasons that I can see for hosting in the US.

1) Your target demographic is US / Canada / Mexico
2) You are trying to cut costs as cheap as possible at the expense of service and speed.

Anyway, this isn't a conversation worth having again, we've all been here over and over and over and over again.

On a positive note I like your site, nice and clean design and easy to navigate.

Ditto what Paul said... very easy to navigate, thats the main thing for me!
If I was to ever use a hosting company, I'd want my sites to be located in the UK.
However, saying that, your not trying to hide the fact your servers are located in the USA, in-fact you specifically state where they are located! So I've no problems with it. :-)

Also you do not present customers with your temrs and conditions prior to requesting payment information.

You should also provide a phone number on your website.

Again re-iterating other points raised. People are starting to become wise of UK companies with US servers. The savy customers now see US based servers as being provided by a person with a day job and little support.

I am not saying this is you just some customers are becoming wary of this.

Even general non-techy customers loooking for hosting tend to ask on forums and get the "US v UK" debate fired at them.

There's no indication of who the customer is doing business with, are you a partnership, sole trader, limited company? Whats your company number and registered office?

Are you vat registered, where's your vat registration number ?
If you're not vat registered at least state that there's no vat to add.

Thanks for all your comments so far, they've all been very helpful. I will certainly look more deeply into what's been said/suggested.

With regards to the US vs UK issue, we're researching UK datacenters and providers and have been doing so for many months now (we want to make sure we're making the right decision) as we hope to eventually offer our customers a choice of hosting in the UK or USA, as well as expand on the services we currently offer.

Please keep your comments/suggestions coming in.

Thanks all, appreciate it

Cyberhost, I like it . Simple yet clean - not one of those strange flash things with pictures of glittering servers .

Nice to see a manchester fellow on here too.

Yeah.. they really annoy us too! It's quite unbelievable how many hosting companies actually use them on their website! (and with an annoying rollover or loading sound)!

Hiya. Thanks for the comment - but no, we aren't using AWBS. It's just a custom-designed template by our design team.
