Ideally it should not be more than 2% of the content.

If your counting keyword density as a ranking factor your not doing SEO right

Agree with Neil, forget keyword density. That sort of thing went out the window years ago along with the keyword meta tag.

Keyword density in term of seo that refers number of time your keyword appears on the page,
keyword density is not much more important in today's word in the term of seo,
your contents should be unfriendly and unique is more effective,Keyword Density of around 3-4% or Less

The standard Recommended keyword density is 2% per page, But you can go up-to 3% to 3.5% depending on content. Don't go for 3% to 3.5% for very short amount of content it should be more than 500

Don't worry about it and keep it a natural style of writing. Too many people end up worry about this too much and stuffing the page full of keywords.

My advice - write the content in a natural flowing style like you are writing a book... Keyword density is a factor when you take into consideration onpage symantics and word association. E.g if you are trying to rank for "mobile phones" think of all the variations of each word and the vertical association with your core keyword, in this example it could be telecoms / communication / phone networks etc. and always make sure you write more than one page of content that targets that keyword. The second page of content should reference the first. (if you imagine a pyramid of content with your main page at the top)

Try to keep keyword density between 2% to 3%, it will be perfect...

Apart from keyword density you have to think of other on-page elements too for better ranking in Google.

Keyword density could be upto 3% - 3.5% . However try to retain proper ratio in code and content.

Keyword density is use to promote your website. It should be related to your content and material.
