    Dell pro's in 'ere

    Hey,

I have a poweredge SC1425 in which is misbehaving. Its only an internal workshop server and its nothing particularly important, although in saying that I'd rather not reload it.

One of the drives failed in a RAID1 config. Now the server won't boot. I've tried the obvious such as checking the bios, raid config. This disk is marked as bootable and I can't really see a problem. We don't have a spare disk here and I want to just run it on one disk for now.

Is there anything else I can look at before starting again?

    Bloody Dells!!!!!.

    TIA
    Jon Rohan

Use this as a chance to upgrade

Chuck it and buy a new one that is not so power hungry

I assume you've tried just removing the failed drive?

Yes the failed drive has been removed. This could be the reason to why it won't boot which would be odd.

    What error do you get?

The 1425's used software onboard raid iirc, have you added an additional RAID card in?

Fixed it now. Deleted one disk from the RAID array and it works. What a pile of shite.
