Nearly decided but . .

I have nearly decided on a reseller host (I ended up choosing between some of the responders to previous posts). I met a friend the other day and he has produced a site and used Godaddy to host it (not reseller). This was MUCH cheaper than UK hosts AND he reports exelent support. HAs anyone else experience with Godaddy (before I take the plunge). I will need Joomla! supported.

Hosting (as in the physical servers) with Godaddy will likely (almost certainly) be based in the US not the UK.

US hosting is quite a bit different (not just in cost) than the UK but their are a variety of benifits to UK hosting if thats where your target audience are located - search this forum - the UK vs US query comes up all the time and is well documented.

They are in the US, and performance is appalling due to being oversold, overloaded and overcontended to the hilt - first hand experience form helping someone move 80 sites away from GoDaddy in Feb.

I also read quite enough negative feedbacks about GoDaddy on the other forums.
But you may buy a decent dadi from ahosting.biz. for affordible prices.
By the way what is your budget?

cheaper plan doesn't mean you get better support.. how about the network? have you do a speed test?

you will always find UK hosts expensive as compared to US hosts when the servers are hosted in UK datacenters.

Godaddy is actually ok for a lot of people. But if you mean business with your site then you can do a lot better by spending just a little bit extra.

I went with Clook. All going well so far. Even though I ask a dumb question now and again being a novice, they all seem to be willing to help.
