Not sure about roundcube as mentioned by Matt its still in beta stage and hence dont think hosts will think of implementing it unless their stable version is released, but I am sure majority of the hosts (UK or US) offer horde..
the reason is horde is a common webmail that is available with almost all the major control panels such as cpanel or plesk..

I'm surprised there is no online directory of hosts, with independent reviews and feature charts of the services they offer. Something like that would be ideal and incredibly useful for so many people.

It's possible to install Horde/Roundcube/etc onto your webspace, too - no need to rely on your host for it. All you need is a host which lets you do so, which I'd suppose the majority do

Also - there are plenty of sites offering "comparisons" of hosts, but the problem is they're all funded by advertising...from the hosts they're "reviewing"....and as such not worth the (virtual) paper they're written on, unfortunately.

SmarterMail works for me

Nice and intuitive WebMail interface with Outlook sync if required. Of course indefinite storage is rather a tall order. I suspect you will have to agree the meaning with your host.

Regards
Lea

Smater Mail and zimbra look interesting. I'm still an exchange fan personally for workie email stuff. I'd happily use Smarter mail for personal email use.

I personally like @mail (if you want to spend some cash) or Roundcube (opensource).

We use @mail - it is nice, luckily you get the source code too as you need to fix some of the problems yourself as support can be a bit lacking sometimes.

Really prefer the PHP version of @mail. Much faster than the Perl version.

Its in beta at the moment their are some bugs of course but its 100% ajax etc works quite well!
