I've had a disappointing experience with a couple of free providers and wanted to know if there are any good free hosts out there supplied by UK based companies - the hosting (servers) don't physically have to be in the UK. But for legal reasons I want the company to be a UK Ltd one.
Wants:-
1) FTP access if possible
2) point my domain
3) any scripting/db would be a bonus but static html is ok
4) don't mind one small advert or link
I have a UK domain name already and do not wish to transfer it - just point the domain to the new host.
You get what you pay for. So if you have paid nothing you cant complain if your site goes **** up. Why not splash out and spend sub £20 a year on decent quality hosting?

If you want a service with an SLA you'll need to pay a few quid a month - it's not that expensive. There's no such thing as a free meal, as most sane people are aware

Clearly.
OP, May I be as bold as to suggest an economics degree?
