Streamline support... inept!

Streamline migrated their servers from php4 to php5 mid feb and since then my site has not worked. 2MONTHS later!

It's not that it's my scripts that don't work. The site doesn't work. PHP doesn't work. The onlt page accessible is the index.html page, ALL others give a 404 /304 error. Even a simple 3line php "hello world" script won't work.

2 support tickets, 20+ escalations, multiple meaningless apologies, too many requests for login details that are on the tickets (why? they're engineers they should have root access!), nearly 60 support entries, and now my threat of legal action, and they still haven't resolved anything.

Utterly inept.

Thankfully I only have 1 domain there. But anyone thinking of using them.

DONT!!

Oh, and anyone from Streamline want to discuss this with me directly, fine.

Otherwise I'll tout your shoddy service wherever I can.

TBH I've followed the streamline support trail, just because I'm finding it fascinating just haw badly a company can get it wrong, and just how many different excuses can be created from the same 20 words.

Still, would be nice to get if fixed. Streamline??

I wouldn't hold your breath, hell, based on the current streamline threads i'd cancel both my account with streamline and the card that you used to sign up so they don't continue to bill you

I guess you've stuck with them for so long because they're cheap ?

My advice would be to make a list of the things your site actually needs and get in touch with some reputable hosts to find one that can accomodate you - posting in the requests section here will get you bombarded with alternatives...

As others have already mentioned, the mess at Streamline is widely published but I'm still surprised to hear of the magnitude of this particular issue: most of what I've heard so far has related to billing (predominantly cancellation - or lack of!) issues and general unreliability, but this goes far beyond that of course...

However, I would suggest to those affected that it's taken as a lesson as to why buying cheap hosting can often be a short term value gain, but long term value drain! By all means buy the cheapest you can find, but if you choose to do so then do it with full awareness of the potential implications - if you're a reseller this could extend to complete loss of your business!
