CWCS.co.uk Reseller
Two weeks ago we signed up with CWCS.co.uk Reseller 2 windows plan and paid for it.
We had no idea what was coming and thank God we kept our old hosting account.
After we had our account activated, we found out that the 5 free MS SQL included in the plan, were missing. Also missing were all Persits components, also included in our plan.
The excuse was that the company didn't buy any spare licenses because the customers may have not needed it, and that we will have them in a few days. We NEVER got them actually.
In the meantime all our attempts to install and use some CMS or Portal (ASP), mostly failed. While we exchanged tones of email with their support, no actually help was provided. And from their replies, it seems that their support knows nothing about their job. What a joke it was !!
So after 10 days, i canceled. Well not really, because it seems that they do not want to cancel my account. They don't even reply to my emails.
I'm afraid that they will continue to charge my visa next month.
Any advise how to handle this ? Do you have in UK an authority that i could complain in write ?
Thanks

Its a shame to hear that, and I am sorry to hear about the troubles you have had. If you have authorised a credit card mandate (ie. they can take the payment off you're card automatically), the only way to avoid them billing it again, if they won't cancel the mandate, and you can't cancel it via the payment processor, is to cancel the card.

Contact the credit card company ask them to block all payments to the company quite simple and they should do it!

Thanks for the replies, both public and private. We did contact our Bank and we will block any future charges from CWCS. Also we filled a denial of the first card charge, since the conpany never added the full services.
I thought that such things happen in "strange" countries, not in UK !!!!! Do you have an authority that somebody can send a complain ?

Sadly, as a business purchase it is not covered by Goods and Services Act nor the Distance Selling regulations
However, check their Terms & Conditions as they may have included them!

Hi,
Their Terms and Condition is publicly available:
http://www.cwcs.co.uk/tc.php
Even in my country you can complain and fill a report to the authority for Communications or Business. Don't you have a regulating authority for all that in UK ?
Also how can such a bad company be Rated #1 in various magazines and webhosting sites ? Doesn't seem to me right.
Thanks

Did u due diligence then?
As in looking for review (Good\Bad) on the net, monitoring them for a while to test uptime ext., Emailing sales with lot's of tec. stuff to see if they know what they r talking about ... and other stuff?
I find this is quite a good way to avoid this kind of trouble.

Well, funny thing is ... i did ALL the above before selecting CWCS.co.uk. Their sales was very helpfull and i didn't find any regative review. They claim several UK awards like
6 November 2007
CWCS Managed Hosting has gained a ********** Top 10 Web Hosting Award
and
22 October 2007
CWCS Managed Hosting Winner of Reseller Hosting Award!
What else can i possibly check ???
As for their tecnical support, i only contacted them AFTER i bought the plan. And i can tell you they know NOTHING about their business. For example they told me that in order to UPLOAD with ASP, i needed some components called "peritas components". Everybody knows that you can upload with pure asp code and that the name of the components is "Persits" !!!!! What a total joke.
Also right now my account is still active, STILL without the 5 MS SQL and the components that are included in my reseller plan.
I'm shocked that such companies can afford to exist in the long term....
Anyway, worst case, i lost 80 euros and a week of my time.
Cheers

Yes, there are loads of regulations in the UK, that also cover retail sales, known as the statutory rights
This would be classified as a business transaction and there is no regulation to cover this specifically
However, it may be possible to argue the transaction with a Credit Card company, PayPal, etc

An update on my problem, so future customers of CWCS know:
They REFUSE to cancel my account and they charged for a second month. So we had to cancel our credit card and fill a complain against them with the Greek VISA company.
Also they keep my account open in Plesk, BUT still NO MS SQL server options nor the Persits components, both included in the Reseller 2 plan. So to my book, they are crooks and commit fraud and we will face them as such.
Pitty. From a Uk company.

Generally, these aren't awards for good service, they are "awards" from the commercial entity issuing the awards to their highest paying advertisers.

Hello
your not the only one, i've had a few of my resellers try CWCS and had several similar issues to you! Demand a refund from them! If they have not given you what you paid for they should give you a refund, otherwise ask your bank to do a "chargeback".

Hello.
They don't reply to my emails. I did all the above and i canceled my card also. They are very luck i don't live in UK, and i can't go after them with any means.
I use reseller accounts for the last 7 years, in UK and US. I have NEVER seen such a thing. I have seen slow servers, crashing servers, next to nothing support, but hey ... not fraud. This is a first.
