Design client feedback CRM software

This is going to be a hard one to explain. But imagine, if you will, the following scenario.

I've just finished doing a load of site mockups for my client, which I need them to review, and I want my whole team to have access to the feedback. Sending and forwarding disparate emails is cumbersome and inefficient: I want to just post the files to an online area and have the client automatically notified by email. They then log into this (as yet imaginary) system, review the images and leave feedback, to which I or a colleague can then reply if necessary, and have a record kept of all communication for everyone's benefit.

Next I want to put up a demo of a content management system for the client to evaluate. Again I'd like just to be able to post a link and get feedback in the same way.

But as yet I haven't found any software which accomplishes this. I think basically what I'm looking for is a kind of CRM system which integrates resources such as links, image galleries and project documents which can be made selectively available to clients. Similarly I'd like to be able to assign designers to certain projects, so that they only see information which is relevant to them.

This is something which I would have thought to be a fairly commonplace desire among design teams; and yet none of the major CRM apps out there seem to offer this functionality.

This may be a wood-for-trees situation in which a dedicated software solution isn't necessary and there's a much less involved way of organising communication of this nature, but if there is I haven't found it yet!

Any ideas?

Well I was trying to work out whether anything like that would work. But that wouldn't really offer the separation I want between the client and designer side, or the CRM facilities.

SugarCRM comes pretty close, but it only has a support ticket feature, and as far as I can see no way of providing the client with resources (which I guess is kind of the reverse!).

Basecamp has private and public objects - you can make things only visible by your company rather than the client.

Any others? Also experiences with basecamp?

Wait - how does that work in terms of what I want to do? I.e. give a client a login to allow them to see certain (but ideally not necessarily all) resources related to their project?

Oh sorry, just realised what you said! Strange how reading an 'only' in the wrong place can completely change the meaning...

Anyway, thanks for reminding me about Basecamp, I'd forgotten about it until now. I'd prefer something hosted but it apparently has an API so might be able to knock something up which hooks into it.

Any experiences of using Basecamp?

Have you considered sharepoint?

You can share documents and various other resources, lots of collaboration features etc.

We use basecamp for just the sort of thing you're talking about. Works well
