Question Web hosting compatible with Joomla

Hi - I'm using Joomla to design my own websites, and at the moment im paying other designers to host my sites for me. I'm thinking of using Heart Internets Reseller package to host my own sites and to create more websites for myself and for others. Has anyone used Heart Internet or any other web host packages that are compatible with Joomla? Greatfull for any advice.

Most hosts are compatible with joomla if they support a modern version of php and mysql you shouldn't have any problems

Remember unlimited hosting doesn't exist. its like paying £29.99 p/m for unlimited electricity it isn't going to happen Heart also restrict their reseller plans quite heavily so make sure you read the TOS.

I've got loads of accounts on Heart Internet, and not had any problems or issues
I've had two customers that uploaded large videos, and the bandwidth abuse monitor sorted that
Also one customer that uploaded a copyright mp3 file, again that was resolved quite quickly

I do agree that there is no such thing as unlimited, but compared to other "unlimited" providers I have used, Heart Internet are much more responsive at server rebalancing and at last check, which I perform every month, their unused capacity is always between 10 and 12%

If you try a simple search in this forum you will get some reviews regarding Heart Internet. If you want more reviews search forums like Web Hosting Talk. Best of luck.

Please keep your joomla installs up to date for the sake of everyone! It has got to be one of the single biggest annoyances we've encountered over the years. The number of site defacements I've seen on Joomla based sites is about the same as the number of sites I know that use it.

Keep it up to date and remember that your modules/plugins also need to be kept up to date. Mostly it's those that end up causing issues.

Like with virtually any community open source supported CMS, they're open to security issues - permissions is another really important factor with any PHP driven application.

We use Joomla quite often, can't say we've had any problems with it so far - we try to keep it up to date as much as possible.
