Phpbb Forums
Out of a bunch of source codes avaliable and price wise, i found myself choosing phpbb as my next forum coding.
Now the next thing is to find a server that will allow this source code to be accepted.
Any suggestions please.
Which ones have you lot chosen and how much was it?
Link?

im sorry but what do you mean exactly?
are you buying a server (ie, dedicated or colo)
or are you looking for hosting?
phpBB is will run on pretty much anything, provided it has php and mysql (or pgsql.etc .etc .etc) support. Its not OS dependant.
Personally I would have gone with invision board as phpBB is riddled with holes and is bloated.

Well in detail. A well know UK music forum decided to close down. And many of the users were agrey that they had little warning.
So i decided to step in. WHat i need to something thats reliable and holds what ever specification i need e.g. Bandwidth, Web Space and etc.

Yes that was one of the opion but i don't want to go down that route, as i know a close friend who uses that source code, and i don't want to make it out as if i'm copying him

You would not only be copying him but about 1000+ people
If you customise it, then it can look completely different

you'd be better of skinning a new look onto a more secure board.
Easier to worry about the layout than worrying about getting it hacked and or removed.

With Invision Board, i don't see a 'free' version, but only a trial version. Should i opt for this option or go for the completely free pphbp forum?

Trial version is the free version ... it's an unlimited free trial for commercial and non-commericial sites. Just their attempt at pushing people towards paying, without forcing them.
The advantage of phpBB is that it's open-source, you can mess with pretty much anything you like and not get your wrists slapped for it. I prefer Invision though.

Out of the free ones I would probably use invisionboard. Spend some cash and get vBulletin though

I always use phpBB. Easy to install, easy to customise and has such a massive community behind it that there is always help available if you need it.
Invision is also good, as is vBulletin (if you can afford it).
