Pointing A Records to shared IP

    Hi Everyone,

I just registered and i am quite new to the dedicated hosting stuff. I know enough to work my way around WHM and Cpanel, but struggling with one particular thing.

My JustHost reseller server only has 1 IP address which is fine, but let's say i wanted to create another 2 or 3 accounts and point A records of those corresponding domains to their respective account. How can i do this with only 1 ip?

Man i just read my paragraph and can't quite understand what i'm talking about myself, but i just dont know how else i can explain it.

If someone know what i'm on about and would like to reply, i'd appreciate it.

    Thanks in advance

It is done by means of Vhosts. So you can point all the domains to that 1 IP and the webserver then works out which domain is being requested and serves the relevent pages.

Okey what steps do i need to take in order to be able to achieve that result?

Obviously pointing my A record to the shared IP is step number 1, but can you tell me more about how i can work Vhost?

Thank you so much for the quick reply.

If you cant see a way of doing this via your control panel then you need to ask your host to setup the system to accept the new domain names.

You pay your host for support, ask them!

    Hi There,

Id assume if you have bought a reseller system from someone it is simply a case of adding your domains and the rest is done automatically (as per Jamies post).

It doesn't sound like you should be configuring your webserver yourself to use these features!

either way you do it should be fine,
you could either do it from your control panel or sometimes from your domain panel...
