    dot-qmail question

Hi. I don't know if anyone in this forum can help me, but I have a minor problem:

Basically, I'm using qmail and I want all emails sent to one email account on my server to be redirected internally to another account (on another virtual domain). I read the docs and came up with this:

    edit the file:
    /home/vpopmail/domains/domain.com/account/.qmail
    and add the line:
    /home/vpopmail/domains/domain2.com/account/Maildir/

I figure this should redirect emails sent to account@domain.com internally to account@domain2.com - even if the domain hasn't resolved yet.

But it doesn't work! Any suggestions gratefully received.

    Thanks,
    Mish.

Not sure on the exact syntax for a mailbox alias off the top of my head, but I can tell you how to forward it

    Edit:

    /home/vpopmail/domains/domain.com/.qmail-account

    and add:

    &account@domain2.com

Then save and exit the file. All done

Thanks Karl - I know how to forward to external email addresses, I was just wondering how to do it internally to a Maildir - in my example assuming domain2.com hasn't fully propogated yet I can't do it externally, so it has to be internal. According to the man pages this is how to do it, but it doesn't work :-(

It should work as Karl said - qmail will always try to deliver to local mailboxes first regardless of DNS status.

Yep, as long as qmail knows that it handles mail for domain2.com then it will deliver it locally, without and DNS lookups etc.

    Thumbs up Success!

Thanks guys, just tested it and it works a treat. Still don't know why the Maildir line didn't work, but hey, who cares?
