There don't appear to be many Win2k Reseller packages being offered. I would have thought there would be a good demand for this kind of product???

    Can anyone enlighten me

Could be a couple of reasons for this.

FastHosts have the market pretty much wrapped up. Only experienced user know not to us them.

Compared to a Unix offering I think it is difficult to compete on features due to the cost of Microsoft products therefore most go for Unix reselling.

Possibly price? Unix resellers can be as low as £25 pm whereas Windows are rarely below the £40 mark. A 'bedroom host' can only afford so much a month.

I am considering a 'Reseller' package which I will more than likely promote to the number of design agencies I currently host with upwards of 10 accounts each. However this may take a few months while I sort out servers.

The problem with a lot of reseller deals these days is that people expect the usual, "unlimited accounts" and 50gb transfer for £30 a month or less and when you say, wow sorry, no go, they just walk away. They don't understand that they will get burnt and that those prices don't work.

    As i mentioned elsewhere

    People need educating

    ..

Jonny,, Do you use royal mail for your email delivery or pigeon??

*NOTE this is no reflection on Vibus's speed which is good considering NTL but merely a reply to his previous post

I find pigeon post to be the cheapest....you cant really continue to make a profit in this game using Royal Mail all the time.....i mean, all you need is a coup and some feed, these guys are good to go for weeks!

We once got an enquiry from the US, the poor bird nearly died flying over with our sales response....never again

    You're joking surely ?

We do 20-30 times more Win2k accounts (inc reseller) than unix.

There is indeed good demand Many people are moving over to dynamic websites and go for a windows account as its much more flexible.

Certainly MS Access -> MS SQL provides a good upgrade/learning path.

I think if you reread, what I wrote you will find I agreed with everything you said

I was merely suggesting there are notas many hosts who offer Win2k reseller as Linux.

This post is a few months old so it has changed a bit more since

    Thanks

We could run round in circles with that one all day. It's all a matter of opinion and when it boild down to it Windows or Linux, they are as flexible as each other.

What can't be argued is that there's going to be progressively more demand for Win2K with ASP.NET etc.
