Personal accounting software
Hi Guys,
Do any of you guys use or recommend any software for personal accounting - many moons ago I used MS Money and quite liked it - although it seems it's only available in US now, it seems Quicken has gone the same way.
Any good UK ones out there?
Cheers,
Sean

I use MS Money. Got a copy from Amazon IIRC a couple of years ago. The online stuff is only US based but it can still import QIF files from IB so works for me.

MS Money 2002 for bus and personal still in use here, although not the bus bit. If you have troubles with media I have originals if needed.

Thanks Peter, I have downloaded the trial version - but it seems I am unable to purchase it via digital river since I am not US based, so I can use the trial but not buy it - good stuff!
It looks like I can purchase MS Money 2005 over here, so may do that - or perhaps I'll just get 2004 for the fair price of £1.2 million - Microsoft Money 2004 Financial Suite - PC - CD-ROM - English

Sean. As far as I know (might be wrong) MS stopped UK support after 2002 edition, or perhaps it was business support - I can't recall - anyhow we had moved to Sage by then, but for personal finances I still find it ok. Boxed edition sitting on shelf here purchased in PC World MS Money 2002 personal and business fo £161 quid!

The MS Money I have is 2005. Boxed version no licence key required was £15 IIRC on Amazon.

Thanks guys - I have found one place so far that say they have Money in stock for £25 for 2005 and $40 for 2002 - both Deluxe versions.
I don't suppose you guys have ever come across Accountz ? It seems to be UK based, but there doesn't seem to be a trial for it - seems like it could be pretty good - Bookkeeping and Accounting Software made simple from Accountz

We looked at it briefly when choosing business accounting software, based on the fact they're UK based, have good reviews and it's cross platform.
I did have a trial CD that they sent me lying around but I think I've chucked it. Just drop them an e-mail and they'll send you a free trial CD.

They don't have a trial for personal version, although I do like the fact they are UK based and will give me a discount for buying it, but can I ask why you didn't choose them, although I suspect it will be for business related reasons which may not be relevant to me

The main reason was because the software we went with is one of the few that can plug straight in to HMRC's XML gateway for automatic submissions and because it has an API to allow us to integrate with WHMCS, so yeah, irrelevant business reasons
We asked Accountz about either of these and they said that they are both things that they would like to do but that they wouldn't be coming any time soon.

Great, that sounds pretty positive from my PoV - I wanted to use MS Money since I had used it in the very distant past, and liked it. Now - I don't like it not being supported for UK or even being purchased easily over here.
So Accountz seems quite nice just because it is UK based and supported, I'll check out their youtube vids to see how it looks....

Sean, do you really need support - as I said I've been cracking money 2002 pers+bus for the last seven years - still do one of the old school companies accounts + vat in it - works fine. The three larger brands I hate to say are all Sage.
Money has been spot on, never a moment of sh** with it - no need for support and even runs on devils OS Vista....
