Watch the shops coming up to Christmas though - will be some pretty good deals.
Have you noticed that since around Q1 this year Ebuyer -for the most part- has hoiked its prices up, dabs & play are becoming serious contenders for cheaper electronics me thinks.
Had a pre-order in for one earlier n the year, cancelled it though, as I thought I'd never really use it - and that they'd be dropping in price quite a bit later in the year because they weren't shifting.

I just got one the other day, couldn't decide between 360 and PS3, but just wanted something for our new telly. Then decided that I wouldn't get anything since I already had a Wii which was not used enough and I knew I wouldn't use the new box much either - then late Saturday afternoon, I couldn't resist any longer and went out and got a PS3 - have played it a little - have a few games, just need to make some more time, and maybe another TV that I don't have to share.
Downloaded the demo of Motorstorm - I really like that, actually I'll order it now, along with COD4 I think - never played anything like that, but the graphics looks unbelievable.

I didn't report back on the Linux I realise. I've got ubuntu on it - but being pretty embryonic, there's not currently any wireless drivers for it out of the standard build, and I don't know nearly enough about linux to mess around with recompiling kernels and whatnot. Going to wait until I get Adam round here to fix for me
Just got and HDMI lead. Motorstorm looks absolutely stunning on 1080i and 720p.
Cool - I'm waiting for Motorstorm to be delivered (should have been here today actually) - does it upscale to 1080i? I thought is was a 720p game - not too bothered I suppose I won't be able to tell the difference anyway

That's interesting, I guess kubuntu should work too then, and you can run LinuxMCE on that.
I do just want to play my movies directly over the PS3 player though - but it's all a bit hit and miss - I have converted one DVD to mp4 which took around 26hours, and it works perfectly on PC's but not at all on PS3 which I thought was supposed to play mp4 movies ? I have got a couple of movies clips to stream to the PS3 - but nothing that's really watchable.
Has anybody else had any luck? I may try some more this weekend...

Yeah, it's 720p - Not sure if it's upscaling, I guess so, but there's probably not a lot of difference. I think some games will benefit from 720p as opposed to 1080i; Motorstorm is probably one of them.
