Someone should find Louis' rule book and shove it where the sun don't shine...

Sorry to bump this old thread, but due to the bad weather down here on the south coast - Sky's reception is pants - so have given this service a whirl! I must say i'm pretty impressed.

Just in case any of you have not logged on for a while, the guys have rolled out a whole bunch of new channels to the iPhone beta. There are now 28 in total to choose from!

Bit of a conspiracy theory here:

    Comment 12:
YourBittorrent Continues Where MyBittorrent Left Off | TorrentFreak

Names are confirmed in these two stories:
TVCatchup faces legal battle | Media | guardian.co.uk
Wowza Media Server 2 Advanced Gains More Than 1,000 Beta Customers and First Production Deployments

Mr Wilkie does seem to be pushing this "customer" of theirs a lot more than any of his others!

A little petty raising this, isn't it? I know you through your toys out of the pram over the 'issue' we had last week, but no need for this behaviour, is there?

Regarding the Guardian article, check the date - Monday 17 December 2007. TVC's legal battle is history, and they're still here. What does that tell you?

On the bittorrent issue, I refer you to the first paragraph of comment 15, which sums up the situation quite nicely.

Sorry, Ed. Was intended to be a response to Mr Butler's post, former friend to many of the long standing members here.

The date of the two articles is purely to cross reference the comment 12 has some fact behind it - seems to know who the founders etc are.

I'm not the only one who has noticed the links between Netrino and TVcatchup look more than the usual client/supplier relationship.

And I'm not the one who through toys out of pram.... you are the one who threatened a legal injunction because you didn't have access to any network staff at Netrino! Also the one who got in LINX's bad books, with warnings being circulated to their technical team about you.

So come clean... why do you promote TVcatchup so much if there's no relationship? I don't expect you to provide a reasonable answer of course.

That's not quite how I understood the outcome, Ed, but this isn't really the time nor the place to argue out who was to blame for you announcing other people's routes. I have a Rapidswitch credit note, issued against my wasted time, kept safely on file to reassure me that my decision to contact your suppliers was correct.

EDIT: After discussions with Ed, he has asked me to point out that we have been unable to determine who was at fault for the route leak that occured a week or so ago. On Rapidswitch's side, Ed claims the problem was on our side. On our side, both of our network engineers believe it could only have been a fault with the Rapidswitch routers. The issue was reported by us to LINX, LoNAP and TeleGlobe (one of RS's upstream providers) when tickets to Rapidswitch had gone unanswered all afternoon. The fact is that all three decided to take action against Rapidswitch, NOT us.

The issue has now been resolved, and because of that, it is unlikely either of us will ever know for sure. Ed claims that the credit note was issued for another reason, and we are not in a position to prove or disprove his claim. What we both agree on, however, is that it is a waste of time arguing over an issue that has now been resolved.

    Anyway, moving on...

Both names you have 'discovered' have been quoted stating they are co-founders of TVCatchup. There's no secret about it. However, you will not find mine, or any other staff member or director of Netrino's names associated in such a way, quite simply because they are not.

The only relationship between TVC and Netrino is client and supplier. They're in the business of shifting bandwidth, and we're in the business of supplying it. Therefore, the more viewers, the more bandwidth consumed, the more advertising revenue they make and the more I can bill them for each month. Simples.

Completely aside from the business connection, I am also very keen on the project, which is why Netrino approached them in the first place and a deal was done. In my personal opinion, they are providing a pioneering service and taking on the 'big boys' of the broadcast world at the same time.

Certainly wouldn't have been embarassed by that, but glad you had the professionalism to keep what I would consider confidential information out of the public domain.

Anyway, I've said all I'm prepared to on this. Perhaps we can get the thread back on topic?

    What fun.

You obviously don't promote all your customers like you do this one, so at the very least it's a special relationship.

I personally don't care at all.

I haven't used it yet but will do, I like the idea but I would ask are the legal troubles behind it ?

As without an agreement from the companies who's shows your selling advertising around I can't see it being free from issue.

It seems that there are legal exceptions that allow the current TVCatchup to operate: Copyright-bothering web TV outfit rises from the grave • The Register
