Never got it either! i just dont find any entertainment there, But the youths maning the helpdesk (these youths are infact a bit older than me but i still think of them as bairnes) seem to spend quite a bit of free time browsing it.

I haven't got how it took off either.
There are plenty more sites that were around before this, that work much better.
However, the music / promote yourself side probably had a lot to do with its huge success.
Oh, and it is Murdock owned, hence why it should be treated with complete cynicism.
