    This thread is 2 years old no wonder you don't think it's very active!

    It is in fact a very active forum, where each day dozens of members discuss that days topics, If a thread is more than a week or so old you normally need a fairly good reason to reopen it.

    We get a huge number of people who turn up spam their signature 10 times on 3 year old posts then are never heard of again, If people are genuinely wanting to join the community lurk for a day or two use the "new posts" button and you'll see what the community feels is acceptable behaviour.

    Also worth taking a note than you have to have fairly thick skin as "discussions" can get fairly heated however I firmly think that this forum is the only one you need to visit if you're involved in web hosting in the UK.

    I can understand that the aim of the rules is to avoid spammers, but I certainly aren't that, my job at the moment is finding new UK DC locations, I have no interest in making leads/sales here.

    And as well as being involved in the UK, we're based here, originally from Leeds of all places.

    I found this thread by clicking 'new posts', obviously when I'm looking for 'new posts' I can't be blamed for not noticing that it's an old thread, it wasn't me that dragged it up. If forum policy is that warnings are given for posting in old threads, on a forum that has minimal new threads, then old threads should be locked.
    The last post in this thread before "rickypounting" dragged it up with his affiliate cookie spamming was from September 2009. If you had read the thread that you were "contributing" to, then I would have expected you to notice something like this.

    Unfortunately Joel's infraction doesn't specifically say which of the signature rules you violated, but perhaps you should read the signature rules before you add your signature.

    I would hazard a guess that your signature contained a link to your web-site, as that is the most common violation of the signature rules that we see from new members.

    I joined this forum simply to find out about ad spaces and have suffered nothing but rudeness so far, what makes you think that's okay when it'd your job to promote a friendly community?
    There's plenty of activity on this forum from a whole selection of members, there just isn't the level of mindless self promotion and spamming that you find elsewhere.

    The mod and admin teams work hard to make sure that users obey the rules and aren't just here to spam their signature in a load of threads and then disappear without adding anything of value to the community.

    You should do well here, there's a load of providers from all over the UK who could give you a wide coverage.

    If you post in the requests for products and services section then they can tout their own wares.

    No, I read the below...

    For NON WebHost-Status Members:
    Signatures must be:
    1. No more than 2 lines long;
    2. No text-based nor hyperlink URLs;
    3. IMG tag is NOT allowed;
    4. No prices or product details are permitted;

    Prior to even submitting the signature, I know I was within those which is why I asked why my signature was against them.

    Thank you, I'll get that done.

    This thread is from 2007, if you want to spamvertise, can't you choose a more recent one?

    No, the moderators will just ban anyone stupid enough to dig up old threads...
