    2003 Partition live server

    Hi,

A client has aksed me to chnage the partiitoning layout on a dedi server for him - it's currently just got the C drive using the whole RAID1 array, but he wants it split into a C and D. Does anyone know of any free/cheap partitioning apps that will do this live?

If not, I'll just backup/wipe/install the server again but would rather do it on the fly.

    Thanks

The gparted live CD can resize windows XP NTFS partitions fine, so in theory Server 2003 should be no different as long as you're not using dynamic disks or whatever windows calls them.
As ever, take a full backup (preferably block level) before doing anything and run defrag first if you can.

I have never tried Partition Magic on a raid drive, but it works really well non raided drives. Might be worth reading up to see if it does raid too?

You could always take a disk out of the array and try it. Obviously you'll still need a backup.

It has been a long time since I used it, but isn't Partition Magic based on Windows PE? If it is then you should be able to use the manufacturer's drivers.
