Backup Software for Vista

Hey,

I'm considering a few options for backing up my Vista PC. Currently I use SycnBackSE for my files and image the hard disk with acronis every now and again.

I'd be interested in any other complete backup programs. I'm trying the built in windows vista backup but I doubt it is that good.

Cheers,

Jon

Managed to find a nifty program called NovaBackup for those who require some form of vista backup.

Not tried a restore yet but I'm sure it works.

Jon, BeInSync has some good reviews for both online and network backup solutions. Not tried it myself though.

Ghost и Acronis, Paragon, Handy Backup and Double Image are main backup programs for Windows Vista.

I just back up my files with SyncToy, free windows powertoy for vista, and Unison under the linux VMs. Although most things are stored elsewhere on the network and/or held in CVS or SVN anyway.

I don't attempt to backup the OS itself - if anything takes out the machine that badly, the machine is probably old enough to do with a clean installation. As long as the files are saved somewhere else, I can use a spare machine to work, and take my time reinstalling the main machine.

Symantec Backup Exec is fantastic, we use it to restore clean images on servers etc, I love it!

Admittedly Symantec have rebranded it for SQL / Exchange type of data - its brilliant for any. The interface also integrates with backup exec snapins so you can admin any amount of BE / RE servers from one console. .. integrates BE tape backups of the replciated data easier etc etc ..
