I had a nightmare with picking up my network adapter, i couldn't get on the net, that was on beta 2, havent downloaded one since as i dont have the time to download it, and reinstall my comp 50,000 times. The graphics are a lot nicer, but you need some power in your comp to make it look good. You wouldnn't get away with shared memory graphics.

You can use XP/Win2K drivers for a suprising amount of devices (NIC's etc) on Vista if your missing built-in support for something. From what I've seen so far it's been the lack of Video and Sound drivers that have caused any real problems. Most mainstream cards are supported in the release version.

I'm looking at getting Vista via the HP Upgrade program, recently bought a new notebook, and according to HP, on terms of an invoice and the COA code for XP they'll send me a Vista CD in the post to upgrade the notebook when it's released for non-business.
I dont like it i will be sticking with xp for awhile yet
Does anyone have a speedy link of a vista image I could use? I've got the beta serial key and a corrupt image downloaded many moons ago.
If someone could PM a link i'd be grateful, RC2 prefarably. I'm trying to download it via bit torrent but its going sooo slow.
EDIT:
All sorted thanks to Robert.![]()

Been on it around a week now, doesnt like my laptop however, random crashes when opening some programs, runs well on my desktop thoughXP Looks really old and dated if I have to boot up in it to run something.
I can't use Vista full time as I need to use some specific VPN software for working at home and client work.. shame as I love it.

Only thing ive found that wont work is alcohol 120, broke it completely and needed the CD to system restore, it wouldnt even boot into safe mode!
Every technical minded person I've asked whom has tried Vista has loved it, they told me it takes a little getting used to the slightly different method of working (i.e navigational menu) at first but you start to like it.
From what I've seen and heard it looks like a very solid operating system, I'm just not too keen on the minimum requirements to run it, seems like a lot of bloat in it.
I do love the whole concept of Vista, and on a decent spec PC is flies around and is a pleasure to work with. There is however a lack of software/driver support at the moment - so i've had to go back to XP for a few months until hardware/software support improves.

I'm surprised you find that vista has a lack of software/drivers, as far as i was aware vista is jammed packed with drivers. The 32bit version anyway.
If your your normal day to day stuff, its fine. It supports most home printers/scanners/card-readers/modems/graphics cards etc etc - I've already converted by Girlfriends laptop.
What it doesn't support that I must have in order to make the switch on my primary desktop:
- My Skype (VoipVoice) USB Phone (Audio Driver not supported)
- My JVC Hard Disk Video Camera (causes svhost to crash)
- My Minolta colour Laser Printer (Flat refuses to install)
