Either use IE and go to:
http://www.windowsupdate.com (Windows Update Website) and it will scan your PC and tell you what to get.

Or:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/sp2/default.mspx and then go about downloading the SP2 file, and install it.

It's worth downloading SP2 from http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/sp2/default.mspx and burning it to cd and keeping it handy for reinstalls at a later date, i keep a SP2 disk with my normal XP install disk

you got the option of slipstreaming, other than that you should have no problem installing it,

Windows update or download the full pack and click update.exe? or am i missing some reason as to why your having problems installing SP2? is it a genuine version of windows that allows you to use either of those methods
