Windows Internet Explorer 7.0, Problem with Flash
There seems to be a problem with Adobe Flash player in IE 7.0, my pc has latest updates to all software and operating system, yet when i try to play some files such as metacafe videos, it says i don't have Flash installed. It will sometimes work on youtube. I have tried re-installing a lot of times, but this does not seems to fix it. Any other people with same problem. By the way i'm using Windows XP Pro Valid copy registered to me.

Not sure if it's still the case, but there used to be two separate versions, one for IE and one for the rest. Might be worth checking.

Exactly the same problem here, would just be browsing a standard text website and all of a sudden IE would just give up and fall over. Using Firefox now and loving the ad-block plugin... although I turn it off on this site so i can marvel at the utterly delightful and informative UK2 banner

After reinstalling my Vista box with XP the other week I was glad of the option to stick with IE6.
On one of my sites yesterday 90% of page views blocked ads, what is the world coming to! I personally don't block any ads, they're there to support the content and if I don't agree with their ads there's plenty of other sites out there.

Mozilla are hardly doing a sterling job of late, Firefox is as buggy and unstable as anything on several machines I use as well as on friends machines:
- Random pauses for a few seconds every 30s or so when you've got a few windows open
- Crashes, especially when dealing with PDFs
- Ignoring clicks on links till you switch away from the FF window and go back to it

I installed Opera the other day to diagnose a problem with a clients site.
It isn't that bad although I have not done any intense browsing on it.

Firefox 2 is a bit poo really, a broken version of FF 1. Pretty bloaty, slow and a total memory hog. And full of pretty obvious bugs. Sure, the plugins don't help, but we wants them, precious.
Of the browsers available on windows, Opera really does seem to be the best if you're purely looking for a light surfing tool. However, FF definitely seems to have the edge when it comes to plugins, especially for web developers like myself (mmm, firebug), which means it remains my main browser.
However, firefox 3 is on the horizon, and its memory footprint looks a lot better, beating some other browsers for a change. Looks promising.

I use Opera alot. Never had a problem with the browser.
I have I.E, FireFox and oprea installed.
Karl - With firefox have do you get where you open another tab window it sometimes doesnt open?
It happens on mine from time to time. I have to close the browser and open another one for it to work.

I don't get that at all, but I do use a addon called tabmix plus which is very good (also use session manager, adblock plus, pdf download and download statusbar in addition to the google toolbar for firefox)

Never gives me any of those problems.
Loading PDFs in-window can be a tad slow sometimes, but I blame that on the fact I've always got a billion things open at the same time.
