As per my concerned Windows XP SP3 is good. But if you are looking for a settled windows version then I would say SP2 is more better than SP3. Thank you

My life a four year old post dig up on quite possibly the most irrelevant topic (given its out of support, other than in UK gov) I've seen in ages. Take fair warning fella, please please have a look at what you are replying to and please ensure it is even marginally relevant. Otherwise welcome!

Sigh. This kind of daft advice is why we still have people running Windows XP in the first place and why there are massive botnets of compromised machines.

Windows XP went end of life in April 2014. It is no longer supported by Microsoft and is no longer receiving security updates. There have been three major releases of Windows in the 13 years since Windows XP was released! Windows 7 is perfectly stable and usable without excessive hardware requirements. There is no valid reason that anyone should still be running Windows XP at this point.

Even ignoring all that, Windows XP SP3 was released in April 2008, so has had plenty of time to "settle" as you put it. There is no good reason to advise people to stick with Windows XP SP2 from 2004. Running 10 year old software with a large number of known serious security holes is just stupid and will do nothing to aid stability.

My favourite is 3.11 for workgroups. Doesn't get any better.

Damn, you could have left it another month, then this thread would have had its 10th anniversary...
